Calling all dedicated and enthusiastic sisters looking for a great opportunity to serve our chapter – we need YOU to fill available appointed positions and complete the executive board for the 2011-2012 year!
The minimum requirement for serving on eboard is that you must be a dues-paying member. As a member of e-board, you will be expected to participate on the Forum regularly and interact with other e-board members frequently. E-board members must be flexible and willing to work together as a team. Officers are expected to submit area reports for quarterly chapter meetings.
NOTE: I have offered the position of Forum Administrator to Inez Apgar and she has graciously agreed to serve the chapter for another term in this capacity. Thank you for your service, Inez!
I am looking for volunteers for to serve on e-board in the following capacities:
Forum Assistant: Work closely with the Forum Administrator – learning how to manage the behind-the-scenes function of the Invision Power Board. The Forum Assistant will cover for the Forum Admin when she is unavailable and perform certain tasks as designated by the Forum Admin.
Website Editor: Manage the surfingsisters.com website, keeping all information current (defined as information relevant to Surfing Sisters on a month-by-month basis) and adhering to all Delta Zeta policies.
Reunion Chair: Coordinate Surfing Sisters reunions across different regions (including 2012 Convention), assist & publicize all regional & national events. Submit reports & photographs summarizing reunion & get-togethers.
Content Monitor(s): Maintain forum topics, start new threads as needed. Delete multiple posts, respond & follow up on violations of posting policy. Keep detailed files on any violation activity. Recommend updates/changes to posting guidelines.
New Member Director: Work closely with the Vice President of Membership – responsible for welcoming new members to Surfing Sisters and will provide support and oversight for the “Turtle Buddy” program. Along with her committee, the New Member Director will assist the new members in learning how to navigate the forum effectively, maintain a directory of all new members with Turtle Buddy assignments and periodically update the Turtle Buddy modules as needed.

Forum Upgrade Sched. Sat., 2/12/11

Our forum will be upgraded to the latest version this Saturday, February 12th. I believe the upgrade will take place sometime after 9 AM EST. I have been assured that the upgrade will take no more than 10 minutes and that the forum will experience no downtime.
After the upgrade, you may notice that the forum looks a little different. The colors may revert back to the default colors for an invisionzone forum (boring blue). Unfortunately we won’t know until the upgrade is complete, so please bear with us as we get our forum looking pretty again.

Topic Preview
Preview the first few lines of a topic without loading the entire topic.
Twitter Integration
Your members can now link their account with their Twitter account!
Improved Facebook Integration

Profile Customizations
Allow your members to customize the look and feel of their profile page.
Soft Delete Posts and Topics
Rather than actually deleting a post or topic you can now hide it from view to easily restore it later.

Search engine rebuilt from the ground up introducing more flexibility and power.
Membership Drive
The 2011-2012 dues drive begins 1 February, and dues are $20.
Pay dues early for special rewards!
-Pay your dues on the first day (postmarked) and you will be entered into an exciting drawing!
-Pay your dues before Valentine’s Day and you will be entered into a drawing for a second year of dues, absolutely free!
-Receive DOUBLE membership points for recruiting someone to be a new DPM during the drive!
- We’ll have a DPM celebration party on Valentines Day. You don’t want to miss it!

Forum Pips

Recently I had a question concerning the member ranks that display under our avatars. Someone wanted to know if there was a way to see a list of all of the member ranks and the number of posts needed to move to the next rank. I’m happy to report that we now have a way to do this.
Do you see those little dots under your member rank? Those are called pips. Just click on the pips and a pop-up window will open that shows the current list of member ranks and the number of posts required for each rank. Pretty cool!
P.S. Look for new member ranks (and maybe even some new cool pips) coming in the next few weeks!
