I read this book a year or two ago when it first came out. I really liked it, and thought it was really well written, with a new take on alien/sci-fi stories. Well that was until I talked to my sci-fi nerd of an uncle, and he told me to watch the movie “The case of the body-snatchers” and said that it was basically the same storyline.
I still like the story, but Stephanie Meyer doesn’t seem to have any new stories to tell and she just keeps taking stories from other authors, or movies from the 70s in this case, and changing little details then passing it off as her own. Much like the Twilight vs. True Blood books.

Agreed… to a point. As a fan of both the old Invasion of the Body Snatchers movies (helloooo Donald Sutherland & Daniel Craig), I see the similarities. However, Stephanie Meyer’s book is written from the perspective of the invading alien. This is my second time reading it, and I’m still enjoying the story. Having read the Twilight series and the Sookie Southern Vampire series, I feel that The Host is actually better written and more interesting. Please join us for the discussion in April!
